Tattoos are considered cool or frowned upon depending on your point of view. A person with a tattoo is considered a maverick. The best example of this is the problems people with visible tattoos have in getting jobs. Note that I said visible. If you have a tattoo on your chest or back that is covered with clothing, the unseen tattoo will not become a factor in your chances to get a job. Most people overcome this by getting tattoos they can conceal during working situations and flaunt in social situations. People that get tattoos regard themselves as part of a separate community, with the tattoos as the ink that binds them.

Within the tattoo community there are two factions – the outsiders and the purists. These factions are not rival groups but hardcore or elite and then the amateurs. The elite believe that a tattoo should be created for a reason. There is a quote about tattoos that goes ‘Show me a man with a tattoo and I’ll show you a man with an interesting past’. A tattoo is supposed to have a story behind it. A tattoo that does not celebrate or commemorate a moment of your life is not considered a real tattoo but a decoration by the elite tattoo community.

Although a tattoo is art, and art as we know is free for all. Most people do not understand the art that they encounter everyday in their lives. I am not talking about tattoos only. It could be a modified car or wall art. To understand the art you need to be attuned to the artist or creator. A very good example of this is the Mona Lisa. The Mona Lisa is one of the most celebrated works of art in the world. If you look at it, it is a painting of a not too attractive woman standing or sitting in front of an insignificant background. So why is it famous then?

The answer lies with the artist – Leonardo Da Vinci is considered a genius. This has extended to his work. The Mona Lisa may just be a crappy painting, commissioned by a wealthy lord and painted only because he needed the money. We do not know. Whatever the story behind the painting, it’s this story that has made the Mona Lisa famous. The same thing goes for tattoos. You might have the most beautiful and symmetric tattoo, but it will be forgotten fast if there is no story behind it. These are pretty strong opinions, but let me give you another analogy.

Let’s imagine you meet a girl with a tattoo of a butterfly. In the course of the conversation the tattoo she has comes up and she tells you that she wanted to get a tattoo and since butterflies are pretty, she got a tattoo of a butterfly. You move on in the conversation and maybe forget about it. Now imagine if she told you that the butterfly is to commemorate a special day or a day that changed her life, you are intrigued and want to know more. You ask, and she tells you. Now the conversation has gone to different level and the both of you are connecting.

Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying do not get a tattoo. I’m saying get one for the right reasons.

Choosing a tattoo can be stressful because it’s so long-term; a tattoo is so permanent. Making the wrong decision can be painful, costly and inconvenient. There are so many factors to consider before making the final decision on a Cool Tattoo Design, including size, color, meaning, style and placement of the design as well as the artist you choose to help you get the tattoo you want.

Art is not only limited to paper or wood or stone. Now-a-days art does not necessarily means a painting on the canvas or a sculpture. Body art is an emerging form of art. A person’s body serves as a canvas for different form of art like tattooing, piercing and mehendi. Though it is still gaining recognition the art of piercing and painting the body was there since ancient times. Tribal villagers used to paint their bodies and pierce different parts of their body to wear ornaments. They did this mainly due to follow their local customs and cultures. At present tattooing and piercing is a form of a style statement. Body art is mainly an expression of a person’s individuality and freedom of spirit. Body art can be again of different forms.

Tattoo – Tattoo is a very common form of body art. A tattoo can be either permanent or temporary. A permanent tattoo lasts forever but the process is immensely painful. So if you are not that courageous you should go for a temporary tattoo which is not at all painful but that does not last for long. A tattoo can be done on any part of your body. If you can not come up with your own design you can search the net for one. There are many websites that will give you thousands of designs to choose from. The designs vary from dragons, skulls, animals to butterflies, flowers and even abstracts. Some websites even offer downloadable temporary tattoos and also tattoo stencils. One such website is the tattoo Johnny website. You can download the tattoo stencil from the website and take the printout to the local tattoo parlor and get the tattoo permanently on your skin.

Piercing – Body piercing is another form of art. Ear piercing is the most common form of piercing. Most women pierce their ears when they are just little girls. When they grow up they get some more piercing on their ear. Men also pierce their ears. Piercing other parts of your body is also quite famous now. You can pierce your nose, your tongue, your cheeks, your eyebrows and if you are more brave and courageous you can also try piercing your nipples, your navel or your genitals. Piercing is done mainly due to wear jewellery and there are different kinds of jewellery with which you can flaunt your piercings.

Nail art – Nail art is yet another form of body art. It is mainly adorned by women. It is a form of art where a woman’s nails are painted with color. You can also keep them nude and just apply a coat of glossy nail polish or you can also go for a French manicure if you want to keep it simple. In order to glamorize your nails a bit you can apply some bright colored nail polish and stick stones and make patterns or you can also use different colors together. If you have short nails you can also use artificial nails that are easily available.

One such website is the tattoo johnny website. You can download the tattoo stencil from the website and take the printout to the local tattoo parlor and get the tattoo permanently on your skin.

Henna tattooing is a fun and beautiful and artistic way to experiment with. A traditional practice brought down to the new generation genres of artistic expression. What makes it even cooler is the fact that you can enjoy body art or body painting without permanently branding your skin and being stuck with it forever.

Henna tattooing is just drawing or painting designs into the skin with henna tattoo paste made from natural ingredients that are safe and cheaper than ink and permanent tattoos. You will only need powdered henna leaves with black coffee or tea liquid. It is so easy to do, cheaper and you can even do it on your own at home.

You need but three things; a design of your own or one from the many henna tattoo design available in the market, materials for the henna tattoo paste and applicator and know how to make the henna tattoo paste. So easy are the steps that a beginner may follow through.

How to make henna paste?

Things you will need:

Henna leaves (powdered)
Coffee or tea
Eucalyptus or lavender/olive oil
Water

How to- steps

1. Boil water and add coffee powder or tea bag. Allow it to settle for hours then strain it with a strainer to remove the coffee or tea grounds.

2. Add at least 3 teaspoon of henna powder and mix it with about a teaspoon of eucalyptus, an olive or lavender oil.

3. Then, add the coffee or tea liquid gradually until it turns to paste.

4. Leave the henna paste for about 6 to 12 hours for the paint to set and for best results. Once it has turned into a toothpaste-like liquid, it is therefore ready to use.

Once the henna paste is done then, you are all set to paint your henna tattoo. Some people use bottle tubes, toothpicks or any pointed material you can use to etch your paint. However, some people who are experts you might call, use their fingers.

For better results, it would be wiser to steam the skin before starting with the paint because, henna stains darker in warmer surfaces. After you are done with the henna tattoo, let it dry and stay for hours before washing it or removing the paste because, henna stains darken after 48 hours. You can also use hair drier to make it dry faster. You may also use a plastic tape to cover the henna tattoo and keep it warmer but, make sure that you place a tissue underneath to prevent smudging and soak the perspiration.

How cool can that be?! No pain, so easy and you get something as good as a permanent ink tattoo. Perhaps even better!

We call airbrushing a type of art, because in this way you transform your idea and sense of art on whatever material you want. People are getting fascinated by airbrush painting with the fineness and vivid image it presents. But we all know that it’s far from easy to create any successful works without regular practice and fine tools. Almost the same as tattoo artists, airbrush artists also need a set of kit and a lot of practice to make themselves a qualified artist, and even a master. But the difference between real tattoo and airbrushing is, there are much more types of applications of airbrushing, and it means more choices of airbrush kit out there, thus more problems for investing an airbrush.

Here we meet a common problem, how to choose an airbrush. Let’s start with some simplest questions. What will I airbrush? What medium I need to make that work? How much can I pay for all I need?

You can answer to the first question with no doubt. Airbrushing can be used widely from small personal studios to large workshops. There are various applications of airbrushing. You can use airbrush to put makeup and fake tattoo on human skin, nail art on people’s hands, to decorate a cake, paint on a car, or simply draw a picture. They may be entirely different works when they come to practice. So you should choose an airbrush with some specified features that fit the certain work. If you’ve made sure what you will airbrush, then you can find out or narrow down the choices of the airbrushing kit you want to get.

What are you going to airbrush can also directly effect what medium you want to spray through your airbrush. Let’s say, you’re airbrushing t shirts, then you can narrow down the choices of medium to airbrush paints. Airbrush paint is usually the most important for craft, textile airbrushing, so it’s better to purchase a set of different colors of airbrush paint, separately from an airbrush kit. Most of the paints for textile or craft can be found in craft shops, while the paints for autos should be purchased in automotive stores.

The last and maybe the most decisive question here is how much you can afford. Just consider this question according to the amount of work your airbrushing project need, and your budget. If you’re just intending to airbrush details on crafts and textile, and it don’t need a large amount of work, an ordinary dual action airbrush and a hobby compressor are just enough. Most airbrushes can achieve most airbrushing art work, like t shirt, craft painting, nail art, makeup airbrush. And most of those multifunctional airbrush has more than 2 spray guns in a kit set, each of the gun have it’s specific airbrushing effect. Usually speaking, thinner the nozzle of the airbrush is, finer the art it can present. Nozzle sizes of tattoo airbrush range from 0.10 to 0.35mm, while large paintings need airbrushes with nozzle of more than 0.5mm. The output of the air source should be matched with the airbrush you have.

It can be a mini hobby compressor, a portable shop compressor, or a CO2 tank. Compressors for fake tattoo, makeup or nail airbrushing can be purchased from some online suppliers as it’s usually cheaper than that in local art shops. You can also purchase a compressor combined with airbrushes, known as airbrush kit set, which is much cheaper than they are purchased seperately and better matching of all parts for specific airbrushing purpose. In most online stores, a set of decent airbrush kit costs from $100 to $200. And you can also find a good kit around $70 as a hobby home airbrush kit in some stores.

Throughout the rise and during the reign of the ancient Celts they established their culture and traditions through symbols. Having no written word they used instead symbols which they turned into a high form of artwork. Yet their symbols went deeper than that. Celtic warriors in particular were famous for displaying their history, their heritage, their beliefs and their personal qualities in battle through a form of body tattoo.

The highly complex and beautiful tattoos we see adorning modern Celts and others today are made up of spirals, knot work, geometric shapes, crosses and other Celtic artworks. Yet these designs have little in common with ancient tattoos. Tattoos in the ancient Celtic world were mostly restricted to warriors going to battle. Warriors chose their designs carefully and were very personal. Tribal tattoo art takes the form of animals and other symbolic designs. There were perhaps not many swirls, spirals and knot work involved. These designs which are so well known and loved today were derived from the Christian Celts, long after the time of Celtic warriors.

Did Celtic warriors tattoo or paint?

Ancient tribal tattoos are the domain of the Picts who were a group of tribes living in areas of Britain. After about the 11th century they became subsumed under a new term, “The Scots”.

Pictish history began being recorded as far back as the Dark Ages at a time when they were not as yet the dominant power in Northern Britain which was at that time controlled by the Gaels. The Picts were farmers who lived in small communities. Their source of wealth was derived from their livestock as well as crops such as wheat, barely, oats and rye.

However the Picts were a fierce and brave nation who loved to fight and they are in fact known for their piracy and raiding expeditions. They were also a religious nation who worshipped nature and other objects around them. They attributed many meanings and accolades to these things and believed that by bearing their images on their bodies during battle they would be able to take on their meaning as well as provide the protection they needed from their gods and goddesses.

Warriors would also have ensured that by their body decoration they would be ale to be identified during battle and in the event of death.

It is not clear whether the Picts actually cut themselves or whether they only painted themselves during battle. Whatever they did do is today known as tattoo. What is clear however is that Celtic warriors engaged their enemies painted bright blue-green and adorned with a host of symbolic images.

There is no definite answer to the question regarding whether they tattooed or painted, the name Britannia certainly points to the latter as it is derived from an ancient Celtic word meaning “land of the painted people”.

Yet it was written in 240BCE by a Greek historian in reference to Roman history. He says that the Picts drew figures on their skins after which they would press a hot iron onto themselves. Thereafter they would rub the sap of the Woad plant onto the burnt areas. There was no other mention made of Celtic tattooing until 200 years later when the Roman Emperor Honorius put down these words in a poem:

The legions guarding Britannia’s farthest reaches.
Reigning-in the barbaric Scots,
Saw on their bodies of the dying Picts
Crude images cut with iron.

A further 200 years was to pass before another mention was made regarding tattooing. The Spanish Bishop of Seville noted in his version of the Dark Ages that the Picts would prick their designs into their skin before rubbing sap onto them.

The Elite

Tattooing was perhaps at first kept for those who were elite as a way to distinguish themselves from the rest of their community and as a way to depict their social status, their religious beliefs and their passions. From the scant recordings passed down from Roman invasions mention is made of the fact that at times glimpses of body decoration were seen.

In fact Julius Caesar calls the color produced by the Woad plant as vitrum which roughly translates into the word glass. It is possible that he was referring to an iron based pigment as he would not have been aware of the existence of plant at the time.

These days being in style means having some kind of body art whether it be classic tattoos, or some awesome body piercings, or something not quite so permanent like body paint temporary tattoos. With so many ways to express yourself in an artistic, stylish and individual way, it can kind of be overwhelming trying to figure it all out. That is why we are going to give you a simple rundown of the different kinds of body art that are available for you to exhibit who you are.

While a lot of people out there may think that getting body piercings are a little more radical than getting tattoos, what they tend to forget is many people of both sexes get their ears pierced while they are very young, so why is that not seen as extreme? It is no different for someone to want to get their eyebrows, nose, tongue, or abdomen pierced than it is for someone to get it done to their ears. When you take a look at the other forms of body art, like tattooing and body paint, you very rarely find an artist willing to do facial art, which leaves piercing the only real way to express yourself artistically on your face. When you see facial and body piercings in this way, as just an accent to your personality, then you can see the beauty in the different kinds of piercings that you can get, from your face, to your abdomen, to just about anywhere you can think of.

Moving on to the other very popular and artistically stylish forms of body art, tattoos and your body paint temporary tattoos. With your classic tattoos, the kind where the ink is inserted into the skin, there are a variety of styles and types that you can get. You’ve got your basic black and white ink, to the insanely crazy UV ink that can only be seen under a black light (which is great for you ravers out there). On top of that, you’ve got some great choices when it comes to styling because there is a style for whatever you want to exhibit on your body, whether it is a tribal archaic style, or the ultra-realistically detailed and properly shaded naturalistic style, or if it is your classic dedication or memorial tattoo with the old heart and banner.

Now, last but certainly not least by any means, let’s get a quick overview of the temporary tattoos. Over the past couple of years these kinds of non-permanent tattoos have absolutely skyrocketed in terms of popularity, especially with the younger crowd that aren’t quite old enough to get the permanent kind. These kinds of tattoos are basically nothing more than body paint, like the super popular Henna style ones, and they can last between two or three weeks which is fantastic for people that want to change up their style from time to time.

As you can see, there are tons of choices for you to make when it comes to choosing how you want the rest of the world to see you. There are all manner of body piercings that are the perfect artistic accent to your personality, to your classic permanent ink tattoos which are the ultimate way to express yourself and who you are. And let’s not forget about the most adaptable style of body art, those temporary body paint tattoos which are all the rage these days. If you want to express yourself to the world, then there is one form of body art or another that can allow you to do it the way you want.

I’m sure you must have more questions about tattoos and piercings!

There are many choices to permanent tattooing. It does not have to be the wipe and stick decals found in machines. There is a quick method available to those who do not wish to be left with a lasting mark and who also do not want the pain and risk associated with permanent inking. The airbrush tattoo has risen in popularity due to its ease of application. It is very similar, and could indeed be called the same thing, as the sunless tanning applications found at tanning salons.

Tips For Making Your Own Airbrush Tattoo

In the process of creating an airbrush tattoo a design template is placed on clean, dry skin. The colors are selected and loaded into a specialized air gun which will blow pressurized air out in short burst when the trigger is compressed. The airbrush tattoo artist places the colors where the customer indicated upon the design and then will apply a top coat to help ensure longevity of the tattoo designs.

How Airbrushing Works

The process is actually identical to that of painting a car. It is best to layer the color than to apply too heavy of a coat. The heavier the paint is then the more chance for runs to occur. Clean up for the artist is very simple. An alcohol solution on a cotton ball can remove any of the excess paint or smudges. As with the temporary tattoo, the airbrush tattoo is limited in the amount of time it will last. Repeated showers or baths and articles of clothing rubbing against it will cause the tattoo to erode. But unlike its permanent counterpart, the artwork does not have to be removed with a costly tattoo removal procedure. Temporary body art designs are created with airbrush paints, stencils & temporary airbrush supplies. They can be showcased like a Ideas For Temporary Tattoo Airbrush

If you are always wracking your brain trying to come up with new ways to provide excitement at your child’s birthday party then consider hiring an airbrush tattoo artist to come in and give the kids tattoos. The kids will have a blast sporting their new ‘ink’ and you will have the satisfaction of knowing that it is not permanent. Plus even the parents can live a little and get that special tattoo they have always wanted.

The drawback to the airbrush tattoo, besides its lack of permanency, is that they are often hard to find. Tattoo parlors usually do not offer these less expensive features. Many times it becomes a matter of finding someone familiar with airbrush design. A good source could be a local nail salon. Many nail designs feature airbrush art and the operator could easily do one on the skin. The difference would be in the paint.

It is really easy to get caught up in the spur of the moment decisions. College kids are notorious for inking their bodies while in school only to find it a hindrance later. Did they really want that picture of a naked cheerleader on the back of their neck, especially when they are trying to get a job interview at a conservative company? If you find a design you really like and you are positive you want to get it done, consider an airbrush tattoo first. If you still like it after a while then go get the real deal.

Armed with this information, you can know make dealing with a new tattoo a lot more confidently. Perhaps even look at becoming a tattoo artist yourself. All About Laser Tattoo Removal

Using airbrush stencils for tattoos is a great way for bringing your artistic talents to life. By using the stencils, you can accurately duplicate the art time and time again. They allow you to create the same quality pictures each and every time. They’re valuable for use on clothes as well as in the tattoo forum. You can even make your own stencils. Templates can be bought along with the airbrush paints and stencils that will have you looking like a pro in no time.

You can find these airbrush stencils at many hobby stores or craft shop. But online is your best bet for finding just exactly what you want. Many who shop and shop without success, begin to make their own out of plastic or other mediums. If you feel you’d be more comfortable with a little training, then you have the option of taking some classes. These can be found on line as well. Using stencils brings a real professional edge to your art that you couldn’t otherwise pull off.

You’ll have to learn to use the airbrush paint with your stencils, and the airbrush itself. The pigments in the airbrush paint are a lot finer than other paint. The best paint for learning is the airbrush body paint, which can either be ‘Transparent’ or ‘Opaque’. Many believe that learning with the transparent paint is easiest due to the fact that it’s thinner than opaque.

The airbrush you’ll use with your stencils can either be a single action airbrush, or a double action airbrush. The single action works using air that moves at a high velocity with low pressure. By having a liquid beneath the air stream, like your paint, it gets drawn into the flow of the air stream. Then it simple breaks up in small particles and blown out the end of your airbrush. The single action airbrush is recommended if you’re a beginner, and you should be sure to use a good compressor.

Quin has been using airbrush stencils for over 5 years. Also airbrush makeup is used to add glow to the faces of many people.

The number of drawn tattoos is growing now more than ever before. This is due to the entrance of different categories of people that want to have their bodies tattooed. In the past, inmates, bikers and low standard people were the main customers of any tattoo shop but now the situation is totally different. Tattoo shops are receiving a wider base of clientele from wide backgrounds and different age groups.

The immense growth of this art makes it a critical need for rules to regulate it. Surprisingly, there are no strong or solid rules to regulate tattoo work. Recently there were some actions taken to regulate tattoo work.

One of the first regulations that took place was the regulation of licensing tattoo artists. Until 2008, anyone could open a tattoo parlor and start drawing tattoos on people. After that date, different States started applying regulations on tattoo artists as they now must complete a certain level of education in order to be certified to draw tattoos.

Other regulations apply to the tattoo parlor itself. Before 2008, it was acceptable to offer tattoo services from home or any residence but now the situation is different. Starting 2010, it is empirical to establish any new tattoo parlor in a commercial building but the tattoo studios established before that date can keep their businesses.

When we take a look at the health regulation we will find that it covered everything except the tattoo ink itself. The health regulations cover the machinery and equipments used in tattooing. Health inspectors will check every facility and make sure that every needle used is sterilized and disposed after the usage. They will also require a blood test for every tattoo artist to ensure that he or she is safe to deal with body piercing equipments.

Different from all of these equipments and regulations, the tattoo ink stands alone away from any regulations. First of all, tattoo ink is included under the category of cosmetics; so when it is tested, it appears to be safe to use it topically but the results of using it under the skin may vary.

One important thing people should know is that tattoo ink manufacturing companies are not required to reveal the components of their inks. This is done legally because they consider the recipes as secrets of the manufacturer. Some companies may reveal the ingredients of their manufactured inks but they are not required to do so.

The main ingredients of the tattoo inks are the metal salts; some of these salts are safe to be used and others are not safe and may be toxic. For example, copper salts are safe and used in child paints but others like cobaltmay be highly toxic.

Some scientists are now conducting trials on the different tattoo inks to find out which of them are safe and which are not safe. Some paints are using lead and manganese so they may cause heavy metal toxicity and that is why it needs more regulations to help finding out the safe inks to be used in tattooing.

On the other hands, tattoo artists started to use organic painting instead of metal based inks but they faced the problems of instability and color variation. These problems limit the usage of organic colors instead of other commercially mixed inks.

The need for more regulations now is more than before because of the growing number of people having tattoos these days. The FDA should test all the tattoo inks found in the market in order to find which of them is safe to be used. Also there should be different tests carried out on the metal salts to know which of them should be used as ingredients in different colors of tattooing inks.

Although there are rare reports about adverse reactions from the commercially mixed tattoo inks, we still need some firmer regulations to arrange their usage. On the other hand some tattoo artists prefer to mix their own tattoo inks in-house in order to know exactly what they are putting in it. There could be serious dangers of tattooing yourself. Some people may think that this is a safer method but it is not like this all the time. When a tattoo artist tries to reach a certain color he or she may use some industrial paints that also contain toxic materials. All this means there could also be dangers of tattoo removal.

There were trials to use paints of plant origin but they were unstable and faded away quickly. This resulted in more usage of commercial paints and in-house paints made from industrial paints. So in order to keep the tattoo business under full control the authorities need to apply the following regulations.

* Tattoo artist should be licensed and well educated.
* Tattoo parlors should be in a commercial place so it remains under complete monitoring of the authorities.
* Tattoo artists dealing with minors who are under 18 years should be sued and the tattoo parlor should be closed for good.
* Commercial tattoo paints should be tested for a long time before being released in the market. The authorities should make sure that these inks are safe to be used under skin.
* Authorities should make sure of the sterilization of all the equipment used in the process.
* Authorities should take samples from the in-house mixed inks to make sure that they are safe.

At the end, the lack of enforcement in tattoo business may lead to serious hazards so it need to be regulated and controlled with firm rules to keep it safe for people who wish to have new tattoos on their bodies.

If all this makes you wonder about the safety of tattoos and tattoo inks, it should. If it makes wonder if its time to fade or remove that tattoo you already have then an effective tattoo removal cream may be in order. Try Wrecking Balm first, it is the only product that keeps pace with the wacky world of tattoo and tattoo ink composition.
